MARTIAN FLYING SAUCER WITH SPARKS Z-01 AKA THE RED MAN FROM SPACE - NOMURA - JAPAN

Materials: Lithographed Tin with plastic dome and spark windows.
Action: Friction flywheel with sparks. TN

The Martian Flying Saucer is most notable for its distinctive illustrated box and spinning astronaut pilot. The full bodied astronaut is unique as most flying saucer pilots are merely heads or half torsos protruding above the control panel. During operation the pilot spins in place atop his pinwheel disk as the saucer travels across the table. Also known as The Red Man From Space, the name lithoed on the bottom of the saucer. As with other Nomura friction saucers the dome is fragile and cracks easily. This saucer shares the same basic body pressing as the Nomura X-505 which has been dated to 1962.

Current first sighting is November 1958 in the Kansas City Times.
