SPACE EXPLORER FLYING SAUCER - ICHIKO - JAPAN

This is a distinctive blue tinplate flying saucer. The saucer has a lithographed pattern of blue rectangles. In the center is a clear plastic dome containing a blue vinyl astronaut pilot. He sits at a control panel with four colored lights around him. Four rectangular colored plastic panels surround the dome. At the back of the saucer is a metal extension with plastic rocket motors and a lighted control panel with a space scene. Two small white plastic antennas on the side. Marked SPACE EXPLORER and MOON-1. Bump and go action. The saucer rises on three plastic legs and rotates as lights flash.

This saucer appears in a 1971 Ichiko Catalog.

Ichiko produced two litho variations of this saucer: the light blue/dark blue combination (top) and a light blue/grey version (bottom).

Versions of the saucer have a Yonezawa logo on the base.
