HOOK ROBOT

Maker: Marubishi

The box name is "Robot". Unfortunately you can't see the hook behind the head that provides the more useful nickname. It's a little flat antenna that looks like a question mark.

 

Thanks to H.I.Gosses here's a picture of the two versions of the robot. The "common" Hook Robot on the right is, in fact, a rarity. The other is like rocking horse poo.

Made by Marubishi back in the 1950's. A friction action skirted design with a hook at the top. Waht's the hook for? Well, it's not such a mystery, it's just an antenna variation.

Marubishi didn't, to my knowledge, make any other robots, though they did make the odd space toy. Clearly they were following the Yonezawa-Yoshiya design.
