Musical Drummer Robot

There are plenty of drumming toys around: clown, bears, monkeys and even jackals, but there's only one robot. It's an odd combination, a futuristic robot and an low tech drum. It can't have been produced in any significant quantity because it's a very rare robot. The only example I've seen in England was clearly a sample sent across bearing one of those Hat Manufacturing Company labels that helped sidestep the import restrictions.

The Musical Drummer is a variation of the old Nomura Radar Robot design. The drum is a fragile paper covered construction with space litho on top and bottom. It folds away for packing. The box is a glorious riot of colour, close in style to one variation of the Radar Robot box art. Close inspection reveals an increasing use of plastic in the design: the drumsticks, the pip on the head and the chest panel .
